Joaquin Lopez, MS, NCC,
Professional Counselor Associate
Joaquin is a mental health counselor registered as a Licensed Professional Counselor with the State of Oregon. He graduated from the Portland State University CACREP-accredited Master's program in counseling. Joaquin participated in additional training at the PSU Counseling Clinic and at William Temple House. His private practice is located in the historic district of Beaverton, Oregon, in Theel House. Joaquin is a National Certified Counselor (NCC), certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC).
Joaquin is a Jungian-existential oriented counselor. He serves on the board of the Existential-Humanistic Northwest Professional Organization (EHNW). His professional memberships include the American Counseling Association (ACA), Oregon Counseling Association (OCA), S.A.I.G.E. (Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Communities), and Oregon Friends of C.G. Jung.
Selected to serve as a Creative Laureate for the City of Portland for the term 2021-2023, he is an advocate for arts & culture and creativity. Joaquin is a performing artist who blends music and storytelling and a cultural arts producer. He has over twenty years of small business experience in the service industry. Recently, Joaquin managed professional leadership programs for grassroots and established Latino leaders at the non-profit organization Latino Network. He is Mexican American, bicultural, and speaks both English and Spanish.
When not at the office, Joaquin spends time reading, walking, playing the guitar, singing, and songwriting. He enjoys time with friends and family, especially his nieces and nephews who keep his spirit young.
